Heat Shrink Tubular Sleeve

Our premium Heat Shrink Tubular Sleeve is engineered for fast, seamless, and reliable pipe joint sealing. Unlike wraparound sleeves, tubular sleeves are supplied as pre-formed closed cylinders. They are placed onto the pipe before jointing, moved into position after alignment or welding, and then heated to form a tight 360-degree protective seal.

This product category is especially suitable for plastic drainage pipelines, metal-reinforced polyethylene spiral pipes, plastic manholes, pre-insulated pipe ends, and selected oil and gas pipeline applications. With a high-adhesion hot-melt adhesive inner layer and irradiation cross-linked PE outer backing, TSD tubular sleeves deliver strong bonding, excellent tightness, and long-term leakage resistance.

As a professional pipeline product manufacturer, TSD provides durable tubular heat shrinkable sleeves for contractors, drainage pipe producers, infrastructure projects, and pipeline maintenance teams. Each sleeve is designed to simplify field installation while improving sealing consistency around pipe joints.

Product Classification: Closed Tubular Heat Shrink Sleeve Systems

When choosing a heat shrink tubular sleeve, engineers usually evaluate pipe material, joint type, installation method, operating temperature, and sealing requirements. TSD tubular sleeves can be applied across several common pipeline scenarios.

Product Type Main Application Key Benefit
Standard Tubular Heat Shrink Sleeve Plastic drainage pipeline joints and plastic manholes Seamless 360-degree sealing without closure patch
Tubular Sleeve for PE Spiral Pipes Metal-reinforced polyethylene spiral pipes High shrinkage and strong leak resistance
Heat Shrink End Cap Sleeve Pre-insulated pipe ends Protects exposed insulation layers from moisture ingress
Heavy-Duty Tubular Sleeve Oil, gas, and industrial pipeline protection Strong PE backing with hot-melt adhesive bonding

Tubular Heat Shrinkable Sleeve for Plastic Drainage Pipeline

TSD tubular heat shrinkable sleeves are widely used for the connection and sealing of plastic drainage pipes. The closed sleeve structure eliminates the overlap seam found in wraparound systems, helping installers achieve a cleaner, more uniform seal around the joint.

The inner hot-melt adhesive layer melts during heating and flows into surface gaps, helping improve sealing performance. The outer cross-linked PE layer shrinks tightly around the pipe surface, creating mechanical protection against soil pressure, moisture, and field handling damage.

This design is ideal for drainage pipeline systems where joint leakage prevention, quick installation, and consistent sealing are critical.

Seamless Slide-On Design for Faster Installation

The main advantage of tubular sleeves is their pre-formed cylindrical structure. Installers slide the sleeve onto one pipe section before the joint is completed. After the pipe ends are aligned and the joint is inspected, the sleeve is moved to the joint center and heated evenly.

Because no closure patch is required, installation is faster and the final seal is more uniform. This reduces the risk of seam lifting, cold spots, and air entrapment, especially on large-diameter plastic drainage pipes.

Field Guide: How to Install Heat Shrink Tubular Sleeves

Correct installation is essential for long-term sealing performance. The following steps summarize the standard field procedure for tubular sleeve application.

Step 1: Preset the Sleeve

Before connecting the pipe joint, place the tubular heat shrink sleeve and isolation film onto one end of the pipe. Align both pipe ends horizontally and keep the joint gap as small as possible. If the gap exceeds the recommended tolerance, fill the pipe end clearance with suitable glue sticks or approved sealing material.

Step 2: Clean the Joint Area

Remove oil, dust, sandy soil, moisture, and loose contaminants from the pipe joint area. A clean surface helps the hot-melt adhesive bond properly to the pipe wall.

Step 3: Preheat the Pipe Surface

Preheat the pipe wall around the joint to the required temperature, typically around 70°C. Proper preheating activates the adhesive and improves bonding strength.

Step 4: Surface Treatment

After preheating, sandblast or roughen the bonding area around the pipe circumference. The surface should show clear abrasion marks to improve mechanical adhesion.

Step 5: Position and Shrink the Sleeve

Move the tubular sleeve to the center of the joint and remove the isolation film. Heat the sleeve evenly from the middle toward both ends. During heating, the sleeve shrinks tightly around the pipe while the adhesive flows into the joint area.

The heating temperature should not exceed the recommended limit. After shrinkage, continue heating any surface dimples until the sleeve becomes smooth and flat. Roll the sleeve with a compression roller, especially around fusion overlap areas, to remove trapped air bubbles.

Step 6: Final Inspection

After installation, inspect the sleeve surface carefully. A qualified installation should show full shrinkage, smooth surface contact, no wrinkles, no bubbles, and visible adhesive overflow at the sleeve edges.

Frequently Asked Questions About Heat Shrink Tubular Sleeve

What is a heat shrink tubular sleeve?

A heat shrink tubular sleeve is a closed, pre-formed heat shrinkable cylinder used to seal and protect pipe joints. It usually consists of an outer cross-linked PE backing and an inner hot-melt adhesive layer.

How is a tubular sleeve different from a wraparound sleeve?

A tubular sleeve is slid onto the pipe before jointing and shrunk into place after the joint is completed. A wraparound sleeve is wrapped around the joint and normally requires a closure patch. Tubular sleeves provide a seamless 360-degree seal without a closure patch.

Where are tubular heat shrink sleeves used?

They are commonly used for plastic drainage pipelines, metal-reinforced polyethylene spiral pipes, plastic manholes, pre-insulated pipe ends, and selected oil and gas pipeline protection applications.

What are the main advantages of this product?

The main advantages include high adhesive strength, strong tightness, excellent leakage resistance, high shrinkage ratio, quick shrinking, and convenient field construction.

Can the sleeve size be customized?

Yes. TSD can provide customized tubular sleeve dimensions based on pipe diameter, joint width, operating conditions, and project requirements.
